Merlette is the ski center of the two villages and Orcières has got most of the cross country skiing and you can do snow-shoe, hiking, ulm, paracliding, mushers. There you have a few reasons that should tell you that this resort is fully capable to give you a great winter holiday.

The ski area above Orcières and Merlette is very compact for having that many slopes. It is divided in three parts, Roc d'Alibrandes, Le Drouvet and Lac des Estaris. Le Drouvet is the highest peak with black slopes running down to Roche Rousse, a lift system where you can be brought up to Lac des Estaris. Roc d'Alibrandes' slopes are mostly red with a few black runs. From all three peaks you can descend down to the foot of Le Drouvet where you can find some easier slopes. A long, red run from Lac des Estaris to Merlette is 5500 meters! The Orcières-Merlette ski area has a good snow record and the lower slopes are covered with artificial snow when needed.

Snowboarders will also enjoy the variety among the slopes. A new half-pipe is also built for those who want to try that.
